David Mazer, MS

David Mazer has been conducting psychological research since his undergraduate years at Brooklyn College. He received his master’s degree at the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University. He was involved in a variety of research projects that included stereotype threat, community violence, PTSD in college students, and the effects of yoga on children in elementary school. While working on his master’s degree, David also opened an event planning company.

This event planning company involved the designing, planning, catering, and staffing of a variety of events. These events included private parties such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and more. In addition, services were also provided for corporate affairs. David’s primary responsibilities involved overseeing the finances of the company. This included payroll, accounts payable and receivable, creating budgets, and forecasting future growth.

David also worked as a Senior Organizational Development Associate at a workplace motivation and retention firm. Here, David worked on designing and deploying exit interview surveys for a variety of companies. He created PowerPoint presentations and reports summarizing employee turnover data in order to improve the retention of client employees. In addition, he created training programs that helped executives increase their performance management skills.

Currently, David is pursuing a Ph.D. at Hofstra University in Applied Organizational Psychology. Here, he is involved in research that includes team cohesion, how LinkedIn profiles are used in employee selection, and how individuals timeshare on dual tasks during a training. David earned his Master’s degree in Psychology at Long Island University and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Brooklyn College. He has been on the Programming Committee for the Organization Development Network of New York. He is a member of the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Metropolitan New York Association of Applied Psychology, and the Association for Talent Development.
